“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.” ~Aristotle
You’ve probably heard a lot of buzz about Magento 2 lately. That’s because the ecommerce platform continues to strive for excellence since the first beta version of Magento was launched in August 2007. Roy Rubin, Magento’s creator, set out to deliver an e-commerce platform that offered stability and flexibility to all e-commerce stakeholders. Magento rose to the top of the mountain and has maintained its peak position because of unrivaled support and an extensive ecosystem. Proving itself the best fit for thousands of online stores, Magento continues to serve the needs of a wide range of online sellers, from small stores to the e-commerce websites of world’s biggest brands.

When talking to clients, I’ve noticed that when I ask about what they’re doing on Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms, they typically say something to the effect of “Oh yeah, we’re on Facebook” or “We’ve got over four thousand likes!” or “Oh yeah, we’re really making an effort with LinkedIn this year.”
When pressed for more information on how they’re making that effort though, the response typically is that they’ve made a commitment to posting regularly, and not much more. I’ll ask questions like: How are you targeting your ads? Have you built custom audiences? Do you have the retargeting pixels installed on your site and are you retargeting using them? And in return I get a lot of confused looks.
Simply put, many of the clients I talk to are under the impression that content marketing is all there is to social media marketing, and are unfamiliar with social media’s advertising tools.

This is a multi-part series of blogs detailing our own Sandee Hart's experiences marketing her work as a writer. Part 1 of the series is an introductory overview of the series, and Part 2 takes a look at defining & building your brand.
Defining Your Target Audience as an Author or Business
When I finished writing the book with Bill, we both fell into the age-old trap, we believed our book Nighthawk, was “for everyone,” particularly since we can separate its components and find something in our book everyone could enjoy. But to be promote successfully, we had to forget the notion that we’ve written a book everyone will love and instead, maximize our promotion toward those most likely to become our audience.
Identifying your target audience is essential when you publish a book

For ten years, my idea of a computer programmer was a nerdy man. Why? Because I work for an ecommerce solution company and until a few years ago, the only programmers we had were men. Sadly, this is the norm in the tech field; and it shouldn’t be that way because women were the pioneers in computer programming and that fact is often never noticed or recognized. So, in honor of those women who broke the ground for future female programmers, I thought I would offer a little history lesson.
The mother of women in programming is Augusta Ada, Countess of Lovelace, the daughter of poet Lord Byron. The computer language ADA was named after her in recognition of her pioneering work with mathematician, Charles Babbage.
Early Start in STEM.
Ada’s mother, Lady Byron, was a mathematician, affectionately referred to as the “Princess of Parallelograms” by her husband. Lady Byron believed a solid education based on logic and reason would spare her daughter from romantic

At ParadoxLabs, we are well aware of the documented problems revealing a lack of women and girls in computer science. This is not a new problem, as a matter of fact, back in the eighties marketing for personal computers was geared toward boys because it was more likely they would pursue careers in technology, engineering and graphic arts. U.S. News reports that approximately 37% of computer science undergraduate degrees were awarded to women in 1984; that number decreased to 18% in 2014. It's estimated only one in every four schools in the U.S. teaches coding, even though 56% of teachers think it should be mandatory.

Magento has recently announced a free 30-day trial for the Magento Commerce (Cloud) solution. Now if you aren’t on Magento 2 already, it’s not likely that you'll have a site completely built in 30 days, but it can lessen the initial financial burden. This offer is truly tuned for those of you who have already made the switch to Magento 2 Open Source (formerly Community) and see the value in all the new offerings being incorporated in to Magento 2 Commerce Pro (formerly Enterprise) such as the B2B Suite, Bluefoot CMS, and Business Intelligence.
Instead of only offering a yearly license, Magento is positioning itself as a monthly subscription that also includes hosting. It is competitively priced to appeal to merchants who may have been considering Shopify Plus. Magento Commerce, FKA Magento Cloud, eliminates the need for your own servers, but contains the same functions. Unlike Shopify, which is SaaS that is limited in its customization, Magento

Welcome to Part 3 of the 2017 Holiday eCommerce Series. This is the third post in a four-part series to help you increase sales and gain loyal customers this holiday season. This week, we are looking at some of the predicted trends for 2017 holiday shopping and how you can apply them to your eCommerce store.
1. Voice search and digital assistants
Voice search on mobile has been around for quite a while, but since the release of Echo and Alexa, voice is becoming a crucial part of online retail. Millions of these devices are in homes around the country and customers will be using them to look for holiday purchases. To optimize your site for voice search, use natural language keywords, include text content, update FAQs for longtail search, and use conversional phrases.
2. Value of personal information
Customers have become increasingly aware of the value of their personal information. They know it’s important and they don’t want to give it away for nothing.
